If you are the UK try ACAS. They specifically deal with this kind of thing. Good luck. x

You don't say where you live. Most places in the US, an employee is an ';employee at will'; unless they have a contract saying otherwise - this means they can legally be fired for almost any reason with no warning. They can't be fired BECAUSE of their race, gender, age over 40, religion or national origin.

Without more info, hard to say, but he very likely has no legal rights.
Perhaps -- but without details it's tough to say. Likely he's over 40 -- so you might have an age discrimination suit.

Some attorneys will allow the initial contact at no charge, just to see if you have a case worth pursuing. You might be best served to start contacting attorneys who specialize in labor/employment law.

I have one other suggestion, a great site -- Labor Law Talk
Um should you even be asking if it's a good reason to get legal advice if he was wrongly terminated? Of course you should get legal advice, whether it's free or if you have to pay for a lawyer. 25 years of dedicated service shouldn't be ended for no reason.
I think you need to go into more detail to have an understanding of what you are asking. You said you were wondering if it is worth it? Worth what? If you need Information or help I would suggest that you give more details, at let that way you could be directed to the right person to help you.
legalzoom.com . In most cases companies do not actually need a reason to fire anyone. You can be fired simply because he did not get along with his boss. You just can't get fired for your race, creed, religion, age etc.
A company doesn't need a reason to fire someone.

Did he have a contract or something?

Was there any harassment or discrimination?
The CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) are trained in areas of law like this and give free advice....they're your best bet!
